AXA XL, the property, casualty and specialty risk division of the AXA Group, has announced a leadership change affecting its operations in Austria and the Central and Southeastern Europe (CSEE) region.
The company has operated in Austria and the CSEE region for almost 30 years and views the area as having increasing strategic and economic significance. AXA XL said it is continuing to strengthen its local expertise and capabilities to support the evolving needs of its customers.
AXA XL has announced the appointment of Simon Schäfer as Country Manager for Austria and CSEE, subject to regulatory approval. Based in Vienna, Schäfer will be responsible for leading the company’s insurance operations across Austria and the wider CSEE region.
Schäfer most recently served as Head of Risk Consulting Northern Europe, where he oversaw the company’s risk consulting activities across the region. The company said he brings extensive leadership experience and a strong background in working with clients and brokers. Since joining the AXA Group in 2015 and AXA XL in 2020, Schäfer has held a number of senior positions spanning finance, transformation and risk consulting.
At the same time, AXA XL announced that Eduard Billovits will take on the role of Head of Distribution Austria & CSEE. Billovits has spent nearly three decades in a range of management positions within the organisation and will continue to support customers while focusing on the development of the company’s distribution activities across the region.
Schäfer and Billovits will work together to support the development of insurance solutions for customers, contribute to growth and resilience across the markets in which the company operates, and further strengthen AXA XL’s presence in Austria and the CSEE region.
