AXA XL, the property & casualty (P&C) and specialty risk division of global insurer AXA, has announced the appointment of Robert Riha as Chief Client & Distribution Officer for APAC & Europe.

Riha will now report to Xavier Veyry, the Chief Executive Officer for APAC & Europe, and Manuel Meier, the Global Chief Client Officer.

His responsibilities will include leading AXA XL’s engagement with clients and brokers, as well as overseeing marketing activities in APAC and Europe. He will collaborate closely with local client and distribution teams.

Veyry commented, “We have ambitious growth plans for APAC & Europe focused primarily on multinational and mid-market solutions. We can only achieve those plans by expanding our partnership with clients and deepening our relationships with our broker partners. Robbie will play an integral part in this approach by driving our broker engagement strategy and, where it makes sense, identifying new distribution opportunities.”

He continued, “With nearly 20 years of experience in commercial risk across international markets, Robbie is an ideal candidate for this strategic position.”

Meier also expressed his enthusiasm for Riha’s appointment, stating, “In addition to leading our broker strategy, Robbie will build on our existing relationships with clients in Europe, Asia and Australia to develop a deeper understanding of their evolving needs. He will help us enhance our value proposition by broadening our suite of solutions, from traditional risk transfer to tech-enable prevention services.”

Riha joined AXA XL in 2012 as a Senior Claims Adjuster and has since held various leadership roles within the company’s claims teams in Asia. Most recently, Riha served as Head of Claims, Asia, before his promotion.
