AXA XL, the property and casualty specialty risk division of AXA, has announced the appointment of Thomas Götting as Chief Client & Distribution Officer for APAC & Europe, effective 1 October 2026.
In his new role, Götting will lead AXA XL’s client and distribution strategy across Europe, Asia and Australia.
He brings nearly 30 years of commercial insurance experience. He has spent the past five years at AXA XL, where he most recently served as Head of Distribution & marketing, Germany.
Prior to that, Götting served as Country General Manager at XL Catlin and also held senior leadership roles at Coface and Atradius.
AXA XL said Götting’s expertise, experience and proven track record will be instrumental in advancing its client-first partnership approach.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Götting said, “Having spent the last years working closely with clients, brokers and teams across Germany, I’ve seen firsthand how rapidly the risk landscape is evolving. Businesses investing in digital and energy infrastructure, navigating climate-related exposures, and operating across increasingly complex global markets need more than just risk transfer — they need a true partner. That is exactly what drives me in this new role.
“Across Europe, Asia and Australia, I see tremendous opportunity to deepen the relationships we have built with clients and brokers, bring AXA XL’s breadth of expertise to more businesses, and push the boundaries of what a commercial insurer can deliver — from risk advisory to prevention services that help organisations anticipate and mitigate losses before they happen.
“I believe the future of our industry lies in partnership, expertise and the courage to evolve. I am energised by the trust placed in me and excited to work alongside our talented teams across the region to turn that vision into reality.”
