Sean McGovern, currently the leader of AXA XL’s insurance business in the UK & Lloyd’s market, has become the new Chair of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) for a three-year term, replacing outgoing Chair Andrew Brooks.
McGovern serves as Chief Executive Officer, UK & Lloyd’s and a Director of their managing agent, AXA XL Underwriting Agencies Ltd. He is also a member of the Council of Lloyd’s, a trustee of the Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund and was previously Chair of the London Market Group.
The executive joined XL Group in 2016 as Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Regulatory & Government Affairs, before his appointment as General Counsel.
Prior to this he spent two decades at the Lloyd’s of London Corporation, where he held leadership positions including Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel and was a member of the Lloyd’s of London Franchise Board from 2014 to 2016.
Brooks is leaving the position after serving for two terms.
