AXIS Capital has appointed Chris Caponigro to lead its newly-rebranded Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) unit as Global Head.
Caponigro will oversee the company’s third party capital related activities currently under management across its reinsurance and Insurance segments.
He will report to AXIS Re Chief Executive Steve Arora and will be based out of the firm’s New York and New Jersey offices.
Prior to joining AXIS, Caponigro served as Head of Business Development at Everest Re’s ILS platform.
Previously he had served as Head of North American Catastrophe Lines at Platinum Underwriters Bermuda.
“Chris brings a unique mix of deep ILS and investor experience, combined with a technical background in underwriting, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills,” said Arora.
