AXIS appoints Nance as new U.S. excess & surplus property leader

Insurance and reinsurance group AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has Marc Nance to Executive Vice President, Excess & Surplus Property, in a promotion that will see him tasked with leading an expansion of AXIS Insurance’s E&S property underwriting portfolio.

AXIS Capital logoNance is tasked with growing and managing AXIS Insurance’s E&S Property business across the U.S., including targeting further diversification for the E&S Property portfolio and enhancing its strategic broker relationships.

Based out of the Chicago office, Nance replaces recently retired Chris Endsley in the role, and will report directly to Carlton Maner, CEO of the U.S. Division for AXIS Insurance.

Maner commented on the appointment; “Marc is uniquely qualified to lead and grow our E&S Property business. He brings a wealth of commercial property insurance experience and knowledge to the role, as well as a deep understanding of AXIS’ business. Under his leadership, we expect that AXIS will continue to build upon what is already a balanced and high-quality book of business.”

Nance has 40 years of experience in the insurance industry and is one of AXIS’ longest-standing employees, having joined the Company in January 2003 following its acquisition of Combined Specialty Insurance Company.

Nance joined AXIS as a Senior Vice President, E&S Property and then served as Executive Vice President, U.S. Property.

His career began at The Hartford, and Nance has also held various management-level retail and commercial property insurance roles at Lexington Insurance Company (now part of AIG), AIG and Chubb.
