Global specialty underwriter and provider of re/insurance solutions, AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, has appointed Mike Cueman to the newly created role as Head of Construction, for its United States market, reporting to Steve Cross, Global Head of Construction and Michael McKenna, Head of North America via a matrixed structure
Cueman will be a key member of the Global Markets construction team at AXIS and will be based in New York. His remit will include leading the company’s entry into the domestic US construction market.
Additionally, he will be responsible for establishing a strong trading presence for AXIS’ launch and profitable growth in the Construction Physical Damage market segment (Builders Risk) in the US.
Cross commented on the appointment, “In specialist, often complex areas of risk such as construction, it is essential to have the underwriting expertise, leadership, and deep market knowledge to successfully expand into new markets.

Cueman is a market veteran with more than two decades of underwriting and leadership experience. Prior to this, he served at Liberty Mutual Insurance as Vice President.
Before that, he held senior underwriting and management roles at Zurich North America within the construction, engineering, and inland marine divisions.
