AXIS Insurance – a segment of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited – has hired James (Jim) DeSimone as Senior Vice President of Primary Casualty.
In his New-York based role, DeSimone will manage the underwriting team responsible for Primary Casualty in the Northeast and Midwest regions and report to Janet Jordan-Foster, Executive Vice President of AXIS Insurance Primary Casualty.
Commenting on the appointment, Foster said; “Jim brings a wealth of underwriting knowledge and talent, as well as great broker and distribution relationships, which support our growth and distribution strategies.
“He has a proven track record of successfully and profitably working with wholesale brokers across the U.S., and he will be a key leader as we continue to grow and expand our Primary Casualty business.”
DeSimone’s appointment comes as part of AXIS Insurance’s strategy of emphasizing wholesale brokers and building out a seasoned team of managers to lead broker relationships expansion.
DeSimone brings over 30 years of insurance experience, having most recently served as Senior Vice President at Western World Insurance with responsibility for Primary Casualty and Professional Lines brokerage units.
Prior to Western World, he worked with Zurich North America, Continental CNA Insurance and AIG.
