Bajaj Finserv, a leading Indian financial services holding company, has incorporated a new wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Reinsurance Limited, marking its formal entry into the reinsurance sector.

The company disclosed the development in regulatory filings to the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India on October 17, 2026, confirming receipt of the Certificate of Incorporation from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

According to the announcement, the venture remains subject to subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

The move formalises plans previously approved by the Bajaj Finserv Board to pursue reinsurance operations. Some industry reports have suggested that former GIC Re chairman N Ramaswamy Narayanan will lead the venture.

Headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, Bajaj Finserv serves as the financial arm of the Bajaj Group, operating across lending, insurance, wealth management and digital payments through its various subsidiaries.

It currently has operations in life and general insurance through Bajaj Life Insurance and Bajaj General Insurance.

The new reinsurance business would add another part of the insurance value chain to the group’s existing operations. The move would also come as India seeks to build out its domestic reinsurance capacity.
