Barbican Insurance has appointed two new executives to head up its cyber division, naming Graeme King as new business group leader, and Richard Spotswood as underwriting manager.
Both practitioners join Barbican’s Syndicate 1955 from Allianz, where King served as practice leader and underwriter for PI and cyber, and Spotswood acted as senior tech PI and cyber underwriter.
Commenting on the dual appointments, Iain Bremner, managing director of Barbican Managing Agency Limited, said; “Barbican has maintained a leading position in the cyber insurance sector for a number of years, introducing pioneering cover for this rapidly evolving and dynamic risk.
“With the appointment of Graeme to head-up our cyber operations and Richard as underwriting manager, we have a formidable team that is more than capable of further strengthening our position in this increasingly competitive sector. The cyber insurance sector has vast potential and we are now better positioned than ever to fully capitalise on that potential.”
At Allianz, King was responsible for the growth and development of the firm’s tech PI and cyber portfolio. Prior to this, he was a senior technology and cyber underwriter at XL from 2012 to 2014, based in London.
During his 13-year insurance career, King has also held positions at insurer and reinsurer Hiscox, and Zurich.
