Berkshire Hathaway names top team for new Brussels office

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has named the people forming the senior level of management at its soon-to-be-opened new office in Brussels.

BHSIThe firm said that it was naming Louis du Ché to the role of country manager; Frederic de Blieck as head of executive and professional lines, Belgium; Bram Boets, head of property; David Bogaert as head of customer and broker engagement; and Koen Dupont as head of casualty.

François-Xavier d’Huart, head of France and Belgium at BHSI, said: “With the opening of our newest office in Belgium, we continue to enhance our ability to serve customers and brokers throughout Europe and deliver BHSI’s certainty and CLAIMS IS OUR PRODUCT philosophy.”

He added: “Already we have assembled a highly experienced leadership team in Belgium, headed by Louis as country manager. This excellent team will spearhead our efforts to further build our team, our broad range of products, and our customer and broker relationships in this key market.”

The top level of management in the Belgium office, said the company in a statement, is a mix of new hires and promotions. Du Ché joined the firm in 2019 as head of property in France. He will retain that title in addition to his new role. De Blieck is a new hire, coming to the firm more than 20 years of experience, most recently as head of financial lines for Belgium and Luxembourg at another global insurer. Boets is another new hire, having recently served as senior manager for property at a global brokerage firm in the city. Bogaert joins from another insurer, where he was head of distribution for Belgium. Dupont was head of casualty for France, Belgium, and Luxembourg at another insurer.

All of these positions will be based at BHSI’s new office, which is located at 54 Avenue Herrmann-Debroux, 1160 Auderghem, Belgium.
