Berkshire Hathaway plans virtual 2021 shareholder meeting

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has announced that its 2021 annual meeting of shareholders will be held virtually on May 1st.

berkshire-hathaway-reinsurance-logoThe format for next year’s meeting will be similar to the 2020 meeting, which could not be held in-person due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Like this year, shareholders will instead be invited to join a live stream of the event online, with services provided by Yahoo.

“Unfortunately, we do not currently believe it will be safe at that time to hold a meeting with nearly 40,000 attendees as we last did in 2019,” Berkshire Hathaway explained.

“We hope that the 2021 meeting will be the last time that shareholders are unable to attend in person. We look forward to 2022 when we expect to again host shareholders in Omaha at our usual large gala aka ‘Woodstock for Capitalists’.

Additional information regarding the 2021 meeting will be included in Berkshire’s 2020 Annual Report, which is currently scheduled for release on February 27, 2021

Further details will be provided in the company’s proxy statement which will be available around mid-March.
