Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has promoted Katharina Rütz to head of commercial lines for E&P in Germany.
The firm said that Rütz was previously senior underwriter for D&O at the firm and will continue to be based in Cologne. She joined the firm last year and reportedly has over thirteen years’ experience in the German insurance market.
Carsten Keune, head of E&P for Germany at BHSI, said: “I am pleased to have Katharina leading our talented team as we build long-term relationships in our marketplace with stable E&P solutions, backed by our long-view underwriting, financial strength, and CLAIMS IS OUR PRODUCT philosophy.”
According to her LinkedIn profile, Rütz spent eight-and-a-half years at Gothaer in Cologne, where she worked in a variety of underwriting roles between 2006 and 2015. After leaving Gothaer, she spent nearly three years at CAN Hardy in Cologne as an underwriter for financial lines, before moving to Liberty Specialty Markets in 2018 where she worked until 2021 as a senior underwriter for D&O.
Rütz will be working in the firm’s Cologne office, which it opened in July 2019. That story was reported then on Reinsurance News. That move had been confirmed earlier in 2018 by the company when it said it was moving from the neighbouring city of Dusseldorf. BHSI’s move to Cologne was one among a slew of firms that moved to the German city around that time, including Aon in the same year and Newline in 2018.
