The Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) association has been accepted as a member of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA).
The 41 member associations that make up the GFIA unanimously accepted BILTIR as a member at the Federation’s virtual General Assembly on June 3.
Together these member associations represent roughly 89% of global insurance premiums worldwide.
GFIA is a non-profit association which serves national and regional insurance associations in the life, health, general insurance and reinsurance sectors, and represents them to national governments and international regulators.
“GFIA is a world-renowned association that endeavors to support insurance activities globally,” said BILTIR Executive Director Ronnie Klein. “BILTIR is honoured to become its 41st member and we are eager to join many of the working committees to learn and contribute.”
BILTIR represents 61 long-term insurance, reinsurance and servicing companies in Bermuda who provide life and annuity products and employ 540 people on the island.
Global law firm Kennedys, which has a strategic focus on the insurance sector, became the latest addition to the association back in May 2020.
