Blink Parametric has extended its partnership with Blue Cross, as it has secured a further three-year with the Canadian insurance provider. The Irish insurtech has also announced its partnership with Baloise, one of the largest Swiss all-industry insurance service providers for individuals and businesses.
Blue Cross was the first to launch the Blink Parametric flight disruption real-time assistance solution in the Canadian market in October 2018.
Now, Ontario, Québec, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island benefit from this solution offered by Blue Cross.
According to the announcement, the three-year extension marks a new chapter in this long-term partnership. Blink Parametric CEO, Sid Mouncey, commented: “Blue Cross backed us right out of the gate in 2018, and was the first brand in Canada to use our innovative platform to assist insured travellers experiencing flight delays or cancellations. Their decision was prescient back then, ahead of the unprecedented global travel turmoil that was to follow.
“This agreement speaks volumes for the strength of our long-term collaboration and growth over the past five years. I’m proud of the great teamwork and look forward to the next chapter of serving the Canadian market.”
The Blink Parametric flight disruption solution is simple to use, the firm explains, as it only requires a customer to register their flight details prior to travel. Blink Parametric then monitors the flight(s) in real-time.
If a delay or cancellation occurs on the flight schedule, in line with policy terms, the traveller is automatically notified and offered instant choices. These can include cash pay-outs, lounge access or more to help alleviate the stress and consequences of the delay.
In Switzerland, Baloise, a financial services provider, is going to start rolling out Blink Parametric travel insurance solutions, namely, Flight Disruption and Delayed Luggage.
Both will serve as add-on options to Baloise single trip travel insurance policies, offering real-time assistance services to travellers when they need it most.
As part of the overall initiative, Baloise brings three optional parametric cover services to the market as part of its expanded holiday insurance offering, which already covers cancellation costs, luggage and hire car insurance.
Together with Blink Parametric solutions, Baloise hopes its insurance cover against bad weather will also boost its existing Baloise holiday insurance offer.
The launch of this partnership is the culmination of close co-operation between Baloise and specialist InsurTechs, Blink Parametric, Wetterheld and KASKO.
Mouncey stated: “This is an exciting project and partnership for us – a real collaboration that has brought together, not only multiple parametric products, but multiple InsurTechs too. Working together has been an excellent experience, enhanced by the shared knowledge, expertise and appreciation for InsurTech innovation.
“The result is a suite of world-class multi-language digital travel assistance solutions that will prioritise the real-time needs of Baloise customers. Like Baloise, our focus is firmly on the future and at Blink Parametric we look forward to ongoing co-operation and delivering on the great opportunity afforded us by our new and valued partner in the Swiss market.”
