Independent specialist re/insurance broker BMS has bolstered its financial and professional risks (Finpro) division by hiring Tom Spraggs, Richard Austwick, and Tom Woolcott, who will each join the division following the fulfilment of their contractual obligations.

All three join from Howden’s financial institutions team, formerly Protean Risk. In their new roles, the trio will focus on providing tailored solutions to BMS’ direct clients.

Spraggs will be taking on the role of director and head of UK financial institutions.

Having previously served as a member of the executive committee and a team leader at Howden, Spraggs brings more than 10 years of experience delivering complex insurance solutions and a specialization in asset management.

At the same time, Austwick joins the division as divisional director and also brings 10 years of industry expertise.

And finally, Woolcott joins as a broker and has previous experience in managing a range of clients from investment managers and funds to private equity and venture capital entities across both the UK and Europe.

Addressing the appointments, Harvey said: “BMS is always looking to improve on the service we provide for our clients. By strengthening our offering with the experience and talent of these hires, we are not only enhancing the service we provide but also contributing significantly to our ability to stay ahead in an evolving marketplace. We are excited to welcome them to BMS and are looking forward to working with them as we further the growth of BMS.”

Ian Gormley, UK CEO, commented: “We’re really excited for Tom, Richard, and Tom to join the expansion of our FINPRO Division – they are amongst many brilliant additions to the BMS UK team this year. We are now actively looking for exceptional talent across this sector of the market including financial institutions, D&O, professional liability and cyber – and we believe we can offer expert brokers the opportunity to build something new and exciting.”

In related news, BMS recently hired cyber broker veteran Daniel Leahy as cyber practice divisional director, who is set to join the firm in September.
