Independent specialist reinsurance brokerage, BMS Group, has announced the appointment of Bradley Nebel as Branch Manager in its Chicago office, and Mariel Biancardi as Casualty Facultative Senior Vice President (SVP), effective immediately.

BMS states that these two additions are part of its ongoing expansion plans across the U.S.

Nebel will have a focus on developing treaty and facultative solutions and client relationships, alongside leading the expansion of the existing BMS Chicago footprint.

He brings more than 17 years of underwriting and broking experience to the firm, with a specialist focus in program business and global facultative casualty risk transfer. Nebel joins BMS from rival brokerage Willis Towers Watson (WTW), where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and has played an important role in building the team’s presence in Chicago and the Midwest market since 2016.

Previously, he worked at The Jack Nebel Companies for six years as senior underwriter and broker, and between 2008 and 2010, he served at Nautilus Insurance Company.

As BMS continues to build out its growing casualty facultative operations across the U.S., Biancardi’s appointment brings deep expertise and resources to the firm.

She has more than 16 years of experience as a reinsurance broker and prior to BMS, served as SVP at WTW in New York and Houston since 2010, where she led the team’s facultative reinsurance programmes and supporting multiple specialty lines. Between 2004 and 2010, Biancardi worked at reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, where she managed key facultative accounts and led new business development.

Commenting on the appointments, Pfeffer said: “BMS’s reinsurance broking team differentiates itself from its peers by investing heavily in talent and resources to constantly develop our technical skills and industry knowledge. Brad’s extensive market relationships and experience in commercial markets will contribute greatly to our Chicago team while Mariel’s expertise in a number of specialty lines will support our long-term, strategic growth plan within the facultative reinsurance segment.

“We would like to welcome Brad and Mariel to our team and we are confident that they will deliver their experience, professionalism and energy to our clients and prospective clients through our established ‘One BMS’ platform.”
