Braven, a US-based technology company focused on building infrastructure for the insurance industry, has closed a $4.6 million Seed round to fund its expansion into the UK market, including the launch of a London office this month.

technologyFormerly known as Sytrex, Braven is an insurance infrastructure technology company headquartered in San Francisco and founded by a Colombian team.

The announcement coincides with the company’s rebrand. Braven says the rebrand reflects a shift from a tool focused on the submissions process to an infrastructure layer for insurance operations, built on an autonomous AI agent architecture.

The funding round was led by Collide Capital, a US venture capital firm, with participation from Fiat Ventures, MGV, Carao Ventures, Angeles VC and Broom Ventures. The cap table also includes Matthias Weber, alongside several industry angel investors.

Braven will use the proceeds to launch its London office — initially hiring two commercial team members, with a pipeline of additional roles planned — alongside continued development of its AI platform and selective expansion across existing markets.

The company identified London as its priority geography given the city’s role as the world’s largest concentration of delegated authority and specialty insurance business.

Carlos Chávez, Founder and CEO of Braven, said, “The industry does not have a product innovation problem — it has an infrastructure problem. As long as the public conversation remains centred on digitisation, we are simply putting a fresh coat of paint on a broken process. What we are building is the layer on which brokers, MGAs and reinsurers can operate with real-time traceability and intelligent capital flow between counterparties.”

Matthias Weber, Angel Investor and former reinsurance executive, added, “Throughout my career in insurance, I have seen substantial investment devoted to digitising outdated processes. Far less effort has gone into rethinking the architecture beneath them. Braven changes that dynamic by putting powerful, ready-to-use tools directly into the hands of insurance professionals. Rather than simply automating tasks, it amplifies expertise, allowing each professional to operate as if they had a team of one hundred assistants supporting their work.”
