Brit Group Holdings Limited has appointed Jonathan Mudd as Active Underwriter for Syndicate 2988.
Mudd, who joined Brit in 2003, currently serves as Managing Director for FinPro and Cyber. He will retain this position alongside his new responsibilities as Active Underwriter for Syndicate 2988.
Mudd succeeds Simon Bird in the role, having previously served as Deputy Active Underwriter.
Bird will continue in his broader capacity as Group Executive Underwriter, where he remains closely involved with Brit’s underwriting strategy.
Syndicate 2988 is Brit’s second syndicate, complementing its lead Syndicate 2987. In 2024, Syndicate 2988 wrote £181 million in business.
Jon Sullivan, CUO of Brit, commented, “We are pleased to appoint Jonathan as Active Underwriter for Syndicate 2988.
“Jonathan is highly regarded at Brit and in the market and, having spent the last year working closely with Simon as Deputy Active Underwriter, will seamlessly transition into the role.”
Mudd himself added, “I am excited to take on the Active Underwriter role for 2988 at a time when we have good investor support and are planning growth in 2025.
“The growth we are targeting includes writing a larger proportion of third party business, where we are seeing significant opportunity and builds on the work Simon initiated.”
In related news, earlier this month, Brit Re, the Bermuda-based reinsurance platform of Brit, joined the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR).
