Brit Global Specialty USA expands Professional Liability team

Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU) has expanded its Professional Liability team with the appointments of Tom Rea as Senior Vice President, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, and Jim Kelly as Assistant Vice President, Construction Professional.

Brit logoRea will now be responsible for writing miscellaneous professional liability for U.S domiciled companies through wholesale intermediaries, and will be based in Glastonbury, Connecticut.

He joins Brit from Hiscox USA, where he served as Vice President, Professional Liability, having previously spent seven years as an Underwriting Director at Travelers, and an additional seven years as a Senior Underwriter and Underwriting Manager at Business Risk Partners.

Kelly joins Brit from The Hartford, where he most recently served as an Executive Underwriter in its Construction Professional unity, before which he was with XL Catlin.

Matthew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brit, added: “We have added a number of talented underwriters to our US team in recent months, and we are pleased by the rapid progress being made by BGSU’s Professional Lines team since it was established last year under Tom Bongi’s leadership.

“These appointments further strengthen the depth of talent we have in our business and are a good demonstration of our continued successful growth strategy for BGSU.”

Rea will report to Tom Bongi, who was hired as Executive Vice President of Professional Lines in August 2017 to establish a Professional Lines offering for BGSU.

Kelly will be based in New York, and will report to Rich Hartman, who has hired by Brit as Senior Vice President, Construction Professional in January 2018.
