Brit hires Liening from Aspen for excess casualty underwriting

Insurance and reinsurance group Brit Ltd. has hired Jonathan Liening from Aspen Insurance to the role of Senior Vice President, Excess Casualty in its Brit Global Specialty USA unit.

Jonathan Liening, Brit Global SpecialtyLiening joins Brit following four and a half years with Aspen Insurance. He has more than ten years of experience writing primary and excess casualty business, most recently as Vice President, Primary Casualty at Aspen.

Liening joins Brit Global Specialty USA from 21st August 2017 and will be based in Chicago, reporting to Douglas Trainor. He will focus on underwriting excess casualty business sourced through wholesale intermediaries.

Nick Davies, President, Brit Global Specialty Americas, commented on the hire; “Jonathan represents another strategic hire for BGSU as we continue to expand our platform in the US. With over a decade of experience in the casualty space, Jonathan will add a significant amount of expertise to our offering, complementing our existing US-based primary General Liability team.”

Liening began his career at Travelers Insurance, where he underwrote excess and surplus lines business across accounts of all sizes.
