Brit hires Lim from ArgoGlobal as CEO, Global Specialty Singapore

Insurance and reinsurance group Brit Ltd. has hired David Lim from ArgoGlobal and appointed him as its new CEO for its Global Specialty business based in Singapore.

In the new role Lim will be will be jointly responsible for identifying growth opportunities and establishing new lines of business for Brit Singapore, alongside colleague Charles Barrett, Chief Underwriting Officer, Asia Pacific.

Matthew Wilson, Brit Group CEO, commented; “We are delighted to announce the appointment of such a well-respected underwriter to the role of CEO for Brit Singapore. We have ambitious plans to expand our footprint in the region and David will play an important role in this. Importantly, David brings with him a wealth of relationships and knowledge of the local market, something that is especially important when operating in the region and will be of significant benefit to Brit as we look to expand the business.”

Lim, who joins Brit in Singapore as of the 15th May 2017, has over 15 years of marine insurance experience and a track record of growing successful businesses within the Singapore insurance and reinsurance market. He was most recently at ArgoGlobal where he held the role of Head of Marine in Asia. Before that Lim held senior roles at Allied World, RSA and AON. He began his career at Richard Hogg Lindley.

Lim founded the Marine Insurance Committee under the General Insurance Association of Singapore as the sole representative of Lloyd’s Asia on the committee.

He will report to Christiern Dart, Chief Underwriting Officer for Brit.
