Specialty insurer Brit Group Holdings Limited has announced the successful renewal of its US Hospital Professional Liability (HPL) Consortium 7882 for the 2026 underwriting year, with maximum capacity of $10 million.
The consortium serves US-based hospitals and health systems, bringing capacity for the healthcare market. Capacity of $10 million will continue to be offered for individual programmes, and can be deployed across multiple layers.
Brit highlights increased demand for HPL capacity on the back of financial pressures post-pandemic and increases in social inflation and the associated settlement and verdict values. The insurer’s consortium focuses on the primary and lower excess layers.
Tom Kennedy, Class Underwriter for Healthcare Liability at Brit, commented: “We are delighted with the renewal of Consortium 7882. This milestone marks the fourth year of the consortium, which is testament to the confidence our consortium partners place in the team’s expertise and underwriting discipline.
“The renewal of the consortium, with 100% Lloyd’s of London capacity, will ensure that clients can continue to benefit from a pre-placed, syndicated and diversified capacity offering at a time when available capacity for US hospitals is increasingly constrained.”
“The renewal of Consortium 7882 comes at a crucial moment given the growing challenges faced by the US healthcare industry. We are proud to use our innovative capacity to manage clients’ needs seamlessly across a wide range of programmes and further build on our reputation as a leading global healthcare liability carrier,” said Jon Sullivan, Group Chief Underwriting Officer at Brit.
