Global specialty re/insurer Canopius Group has appointed Robert Barnum as Underwriter – Professional Lines, Australia, & Asia-Pacific, based in Sydney.
This appointment underscores Canopius’ commitment to the ongoing expansion of its presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, with plans to spearhead the establishment and development of the regional Professional Lines business.
In his new role, Barnum’s responsibilities will include further expanding the company’s operation in the region by establishing a Professional Lines practice across APAC, with a specialised focus on Open Market Professional Indemnity and Coverholder business in Australia. He will be working closely with the wider Casualty team.

Barnum has over 10 years of Financial Lines experience. Most recently, he served as the Head of Professional Lines & Cyber Asia-Pacific at Axis Capital in Singapore.
Before this, he held similar roles at AXA XL and Lloyd’s Syndicate Catlin in Australia.
