CarbonPool appoints Mathilda Strom as Chief Commercial Officer

CarbonPool, a Swiss-based insurance start-up, has announced the appointment of Mathilda Strom as Chief Commercial Officer.

An experienced entrepreneur, Strom brings to her new role nearly two decades experience in building category-defining businesses worldwide.

Strom co-founded BIMA, a microinsurance and digital health player in emerging markets, she helped to redefine how low- and middle-income families access financial and health services using mobile technology.

Throughout her time in the company, she drove the business through market launches in 23 countries and built deep, long-term partnerships with some of the world’s largest mobile operators and insurers, including Telefonica, Orange, Vodafone, Allianz and Prudential.

She has also served as a director on multiple boards, including the Microinsurance Network and Azuri Technologies, a renewable energy company in Africa.

Strom is recognized as one of the top 50 female entrepreneurs to watch and as one of the top 10 future women leaders in Sweden.

CarbonPool was co-founded by Coenraad Vrolijk (CEO), Nandini Wilcke (COO), and Frederic Olbert (CFO). It seeks to insure clients who suffer losses in expected carbon credit yield, primarily caused by natural disasters with compensation in the form of high quality nature based removal credits.
