Specialist reinsurance broker, CG Re (Africa) Ltd has announced the opening of its London office, part of the company’s expansion strategy to become an international and global reinsurance broker.

The new office, which will open from 10 July 2024, will be located in the City of London, and joins CGRE Group’s existing offices in Mauritius and Botswana, representing its first office outside of the African continent.

The CGRE Group has treaty and facultative business that originates from across the African continent, and it was established to build a legacy in the reinsurance industry.

Jean-Claude Lam Hung, CEO of CG Re (Africa) Ltd said: “Our team is very excited about this natural next step. From the outset of setting up the CGRE Group, we envisioned the opening of an office in the City of London as one key destination which would enhance our service capabilities that is at the heart of our “We provide fit-for-purpose solutions to our clients” culture and our “100 Steps” strategy.

“London is one of the world’s top financial centres and is another key stepping stone in our expansion strategy to become an international and global reinsurance broker. Our London office shall play a most significant role in achieving this strategic objective of our group and shall give us the right edge to assert ourselves in the reinsurance broking industry. We will be able to better connect our clients with reinsurers from across the globe, including now the Lloyd’s syndicates market through our London office.”

The opening of the new London office follows the company’s recent new and better office premises in Gaborone, Botswana.

Lam Hung continued: “We are 100% committed to being the best in what a reinsurance broker can offer to its clients based on a win-win partnership framework. We believe that by working together and investing in our relationships with our partners, we can all achieve our potential in a world of infinite possibilities.”
