Charity Bare joins Canopius Group as Risk Director

Charity Bare has joined specialty insurer Canopius Group as Group Risk Director following five years with Nephila Syndicate Management Limited as Director of Risk and Compliance.

canopius-logoBased in London, Bare brings close to two decades of industry experience to her new role, which she started on May 8th.

Prior to her time at Nephila, she served at Talbot Underwriting for seven years. She joined the company in 2011 as Risk Manager and was later appointed Head of Risk Management, a role she held for over five years.

Before Talbot Underwriting, Bare spent over a year as Risk Manager for Brit Insurance, and three years with AIG UK as Commercial Combined Insurance Underwriter.

In her new, global role, Bare will report to Sheldon Lacy, Group Chief Risk and Governance Officer, and will work with regional business unit CROs to coordinate Canopius’ group risk framework.

Commenting on the appointment, Lacy said: “We are excited to welcome Charity into the newly created role of Group Risk Director. It’s fantastic to have found somebody with her level of skill and experience, confirming our commitment to Risk Management at Canopius. Charity’s appointment completes our senior leadership team across the global Risk and Governance team.”

Canopius has also recently expanded its P&C offering in Asia and the Pacific (APAC). Andrew Parker was appointed Head of Treaty, Australia & New Zealand and Head of Casualty Treaty, Asia Pacific; and Paul Wedlock as Head of Property Treaty, Australia & New Zealand.
