Specialty international re/insurance group Chaucer has announced the appointment of Zuo Huiqiang as a Non-Executive Director of Chaucer Syndicates Limited, the group’s Lloyd’s managing agency.
Zuo is Deputy General Manager of China Re P&C and has overall responsibility for China Re’s international businesses and development worldwide.
He also has overall management responsibility for China Re’s Innovative Business initiative, which aims to drive business model, product and customer service breakthroughs at the company.
Chaucer, which was acquired by China Re in December 2018, said that the addition would further strengthen its Board and help it take a lead role in China Re’s international growth strategy.
“We are committed to ensuring we have a very strong board as we accelerate our development as a leading global underwriter,” said John Fowle, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chaucer.
“Dr Zuo has a wealth of specialty insurance and reinsurance leadership experience and technical knowledge, which together bring significant value to Chaucer,” he continued. “We are very pleased to welcome Dr Zuo to our Board.”
Zuo joined China Re Group in 1999 and has since held a number of senior management roles.
He is currently Chief International Business Officer of China Re Group and Chairman of the Board of China Re Catastrophe Risk Management Company Limited.
“I am very impressed by the quality of the Chaucer team, their strong specialty underwriting culture and commitment to clients around the world,” Zuo said.
“I look forward to working with the Board and contributing to the growing international success of the business.”
