Chaucer hires US General Liability underwriter from Allianz

Chaucer, the specialty international re/insurance group, has announced the appointment of Colm Sheedy as Class Underwriter to work on its US General Liability account, focused on large wholesale facultative business.

chaucer-logoSheedy joins Chaucer from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, where he worked on the company’s US liability account.

He has nearly a decade of underwriting experience, with previous roles including positions at Travelers and Chubb.

In his new role, Sheedy will work with Senior Class Underwriter Joe Murphy to support growth plans following a significant increase in US GL capacity for 2020, including a maximum line size of $10m.

Ed Lines, Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1084 at Chaucer, commented on the appointment: “Colm is a talented underwriter and I am confident that his excellent underwriting experience and expertise will be a valuable asset to brokers and clients as we grow our presence in the US General Liability market”.

Sheedy added: “I admire the US General Liability business that Joe Murphy has built at Chaucer, and look forward to working closely with him to deliver more first class products and services to Chaucer’s GL brokers and clients in the US.”
