Global specialty insurer and reinsurer and part of China Re, Chaucer, has named Piers Tuggey, previously of AXA XL, as its new Head of Cyber.
Tuggey spent four years with AXA XL, most recently serving as the company’s Head of Cyber. Prior to the merger with AXA, Tuggey worked at XL Catlin as an underwriter of both Cyber and Political Violence risks.
His career in the industry, which spans 15 years, began at global insurance and reinsurance broker Marsh.
Over the years, Tuggey has developed in-depth expertise in the placement and pricing of complex cyber risks in the Lloyd’s re/insurance marketplace, primarily servicing large global corporates.
“We’re delighted to welcome Piers to Chaucer. He brings a wealth of underwriting talent to the firm and his knowledge and expertise in the fast-evolving area of Cyber risk will help us further improve the service that we offer to clients,” said Paul Restarick, Head of Non-Marine Insurance at Chaucer.
Commenting on his new role, Tuggey said: “It’s a pleasure to be joining Chaucer. I’m very much looking forward to working alongside the team as we address the challenges posed by the ever-shifting global cyber threat landscape.”
Chaucer states that its cyber division provides clients with bespoke, industry-specific solutions and services in the event of a cyber-attack, including IT/forensics, public relations, and legal services.
The cyber team works closely with the company’s marine and non-marine units, enhancing the groups knowledge and understanding of the marketplace.
