Specialty re/insurance group Chaucer has appointed Kelan Hunt to the role of Deputy Active Underwriter, succeeding the soon to be retired Ed Lines.

chaucer-logoHunt brings over 30 years’ experience to the role, having joined Chaucer in 2015 to lead its Energy division.

In 2019 he took on the additional responsibility of leading the Marine and Aviation divisions. Prior to joining Chaucer, he worked for both major brokers and (re)insurers, including almost a decade with Arch Insurance leading their Offshore and then Global Energy operations.

Lines’ decision to depart from his role as Active Underwriter comes after more than 25 years of service to the firm.

Hunt will work alongside Lines as Deputy Active Underwriter until the end of the year, before assuming full responsibility as Active Underwriter from 1st January 2022.

Nicola Stacey, Chief Underwriting Officer at Chaucer said, “We’re delighted that Kelan will be stepping up to the role of Deputy Active Underwriter. Since joining Chaucer in 2015, the firm has benefitted enormously from his depth of underwriting expertise.

“Kelan’s extensive experience and knowledge of the industry will help drive Chaucer forward in the years to come.”

“Ed’s contribution to Chaucer in his 25 years with the firm cannot be understated. A formidable team leader, he has helped the firm go from strength to strength and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
