Global specialty re/insurance group Chaucer has announced the appointment of marine insurance specialist Nicola Miles as Class Underwriter Ports and Terminals.
Miles joins the Marine team reporting to James Irvine, Leader of Global Hull Lines, and will be working closely with Class Underwriter Ports and Terminals, Graham Harrison.
Simon Schnorr, Chaucer’s Head of Marine & Energy, stated: “We’re delighted to welcome Nicola to Chaucer. The addition of Nicola to the team – with her deep subject matter expertise – will ensure we continue growing our market position in the global Ports and Terminals segment.
“Ports and Terminals is one of our key specialty Marine products – and we have a firmly established market-leading position in this sector. Nicola will also help us enhance the high level of service we offer our broker partners and clients.”
Miles brings to her new role over two decades of experience in the Marine space. Her career includes key roles at major insurers such as AIG and Navigators Insurance Company, working across the marine liability product line – including as Senior Marine Liability Underwriter.
She also served as a consultant to the Chartered Insurance Institute, providing valuable assistance in the development of professional assessments. Notably, her contributions included the creation of ACII modules on marine cargo and risk management.
Commenting on her appointment Miles said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Marine team here at Chaucer to help Simon, Graham and James further develop our Ports and Terminals offering. Chaucer is a renowned market leader in Marine insurance – and right now is an exciting time in this space.”
Harrison, Class Underwriter Ports & Terminals, commented: “I look forward to working alongside Nicola, further growing Chaucer’s existing leading UK, London market and international Ports and Terminals insurance proposition.”
