James River Group Holdings, a Bermuda-based insurance holding company, has announced the appointment of industry veteran Christine LaSala to its Board of Directors as an independent, non-executive member.

With LaSala’s appointment, the Board has expanded from seven to eight directors. She will serve on both the Compensation and Human Capital Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

Frank D’Orazio, Chief Executive Officer of James River, expressed his enthusiasm for LaSala’s appointment, stating, “I am thrilled to welcome Christine to our Board.”

He added, “She has deep knowledge of the specialty property and casualty insurance industry and extremely valuable corporate governance expertise.”

Ollie Sherman, Jr., Chairman of James River, commented, “We are fortunate to be adding an independent director with Christine’s wealth of experience to the Board as we continue to carefully evaluate opportunities as part of our strategic review.”

LaSala brings over 45 years of experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in management, client leadership, and financial roles.

She currently serves as a Director of Sedgwick, a leading provider of claims management, loss adjusting, and risk solutions. She previously served as a Director at Beazley for eight years, including roles such as Interim Chair, before stepping down in April 2024.

Prior to that, LaSala was Chair of Willis Towers Watson North America for nearly two years. She also served as President and CEO of the WTC Captive Insurance Company for a decade and had a 25-year career at Johnson & Higgins.
