Christopher H. Balch named President of Berkley Technology Underwriters

W. R. Berkley Corporation has appointed Christopher H. Balch as president of Berkley Technology Underwriters, succeeding Matthew A. Mueller, who has been named chairman of the business.

wr-berkley-logo-newBalch joins Berkley Technology Underwriters with almost two decades of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. Berkley noted that his prior experience includes various technical and management roles at a leading national insurance company, with a particular focus on the commercial insurance market.

Meanwhile, Mueller joined Berkley as president of Berkley Technology Underwriters when it was formed in 2011.

The firm explained that under his leadership, the business has grown to become an important participant in the market for technology coverages.

As chairman, he is tasked with supporting the Berkley Technology Underwriters team through the transition and remains a key member of the W. R. Berkley Corporation team. These changes are effective immediately.

Commenting on the appointment W. Robert Berkley, Jr., president and chief executive officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said, “We are extremely grateful to Matt for his outstanding contributions to our organization.
