Property and casualty (P&C) insurer Chubb has announced a number of new appointments, including Paul McNamee’s as Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President of Overseas General Insurance.
With nearly three decades of insurance industry experience, McNamee, who is currently Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Regional President of Asia Pacific, will have executive operating responsibility for Chubb’s general insurance business in 51 countries outside of North America.
He succeeds Juan Luis Ortega, who was named President of the company’s North America Insurance operations, and will be reporting to Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and John Keogh, President and Chief Operating Officer.
Greenberg commented:”It is a pleasure to appoint Paul to lead our international general insurance operations. I have worked closely with Paul for many years and watched him grow into a great executive.
“He is a tremendous underwriter and business leader. Through his years of experience, he has acquired a great ability to manage a wide variety of commercial and consumer businesses across countries and cultures. He finds a way to win.”
Marcos Gunn, who has over 25 years of industry experience and currency serves as Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Regional President of Latin America, will succeed McNamee as head of the company’s Asia Pacific region.
Federico Spagnoli will stay as Division President, Consumer Lines, Overseas General Insurance and at the same time will assume the leadership of the company’s Latin America region succeeding Gunn. Both Gunn and Spagnoli will report to McNamee.
Chubb has also announced several executive appointments to its North American general insurance business, naming John Lupica, who was Vice Chairman for Chubb Group and President, as Executive Chairman of North America Insurance.
As executive chairman, Lupica will have executive oversight, including strategy, governance and attention to major issues, of Chubb’s general insurance business in North America.
Juan Luis Ortega, the current Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, Overseas General Insurance, will succeed Lupica as President, North America Insurance.
With more than 25 years of insurance industry experience Ortega will have day-to-day executive operating responsibilities for North America Insurance both top and bottom line and will report to Lupica.
Chubb’s new Chief Operating Officer for North America Insurance, a newly created position, will be Scott Meyer, following his role as Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President of Westchester, the company’s wholesale excess and surplus lines insurance business.
Additionally, Christopher Maleno, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group has been appointed Vice Chairman, North America Insurance, bringing over 35 years of insurance industry experience to his new role.
He will retain his current responsibilities as Division President, North America Field Operations, and report to Ortega.
All of the appointments are effective immediately, according to Chubb.
