SIGNAL IDUNA Reinsurance Ltd (SI Re), a Switzerland-based nonlife reinsurer, has announced the appointment of Lukas Cizek as Underwriting Manager for Central & Eastern Europe (CEE), effective mid-March 2026.
Cizek will be succeeding Nicolas Schmidhauser, Underwriting Manager Eastern Europe, who will retire on 31 March 2026.
Since joining SI Re in 2009, Schmidhauser has played a key role in developing the company’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe, and was instrumental in establishing SI Re’s book of business across Switzerland, Italy, and Iberia.
Bringing over two decades of reinsurance experience in underwriting, Cizek has significant experience in underwriting, portfolio management and client relationship management.
Most recently, he served as an Underwriter at VIG Re in Prague, where he was responsible for CEE portfolios of the VIG Group. Previously, he spent many years at Aon, focusing on managing reinsurance treaty placements across Poland and CEE.
