CLARA Analytics, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI) technology for commercial insurance claims optimisation, has introduced new integration between its market-leading Triage platform and CLARA DocIntel Pro.
This is the industry’s first true unification of document intelligence and predictive claims analytics on a singular platform, demonstrating an automated data path to convert unstructured medical and legal files into active claims-driving insights.
CLARA Analytics explained that solutions are disconnected due to the current insurtech marketplace. Traditionally, commercial carriers had to choose between standalone document extraction tools, which merely extract text or summarise pages out of context, and isolated claims analytics tools that only process basic structured data.
The company states that CLARA prevents this paradigm by associating complex document insights directly with individual claims to optimise predictive modelling.
“For years, the insurance industry has treated document extraction and claims guidance as two separate workflows,” added Heather Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at CLARA Analytics.
“With this integration, we are delivering true document-driven claims insights. By feeding unstructured medical summaries and legal demand data directly into our Triage backend data pipeline, we are enriching our predictive models with absolute contextual accuracy. This isn’t just about reading a document; it’s about allowing document-level insights to actively drive better claims decisions.”
The latest enhancements to its Triage platform and DocIntel Pro solution enable claims professionals to access more comprehensive data, identify complex claims earlier and review medical records more efficiently without requiring additional training or changes to existing processes.
The updated Triage platform now incorporates a broader range of structured and unstructured information into its predictive models. Medical and legal data, notes and documents, including details such as comorbidities, previous injury history, visit-level summaries, ongoing treatment patterns and plaintiff approaches contained within legal demands, are now automatically integrated into the company’s existing Triage models.
According to CLARA, the additional data enables its predictive models to assess more complete information, allowing risk scores and critical alerts to update dynamically as new information becomes available. This gives claims adjusters earlier visibility of high-severity, complex or high-exposure claims, helping them prioritise cases more effectively.
CLARA has also enhanced its Risk Notes functionality by automatically incorporating synthesised document summaries into risk narratives. These summaries provide immediate context across liability lines of business by outlining the specific factors that triggered a particular risk score or alert, improving transparency and supporting more informed decision-making.
Alongside the Triage enhancements, CLARA has introduced new capabilities within its DocIntel Pro platform aimed at improving the efficiency of medical record reviews. The latest version moves beyond traditional page-based document review by introducing Visit Level Summary, which organises unstructured clinical notes into chronological timelines based on individual patient visits rather than individual document pages.
This approach transforms large volumes of medical records into structured clinical trends, making them easier for adjusters to interpret. The company states that insurers using the capability experience an 83% reduction in time spent reviewing medical records.
CLARA has also launched In-Line Citations, a feature designed to support faster document review while improving transparency. The company says clickable citations embedded within visit-level summaries allow users to move directly from AI-generated summaries to the relevant sections of the original uploaded documents.
The feature provides a side-by-side view of summaries and source material, enabling quicker auditing, easier navigation and greater confidence in AI-generated insights by highlighting the exact source text on the original document page
“Turning complex medical records into actionable clinical trend detection is where the real value lies,” said Mubbin Rabbani, Chief Product Officer at CLARA Analytics. “By moving from page-centric reviews to visit-level insights with verified in-line citations, we are empowering adjusters to shift from simply reading summaries to taking decisive, proactive control of claim trajectories.”
