Active cyber insurance provider Coalition, has announced the appointment of Laura Stewart as its first UK Claims Leader, a London-based role.

“Coalition’s Active Insurance is a unique solution that helps clients before, during, and after a cyber event. I am delighted to join Coalition at such an exciting time and look forward to helping policyholders when they need it most,” Stewart commented.

Adding: “Having acted as breach response counsel for many clients throughout my career, I understand how important it is for organisations to be well-prepared for an incident and to be able to react quickly. I look forward to working with brokers to ensure their clients are prepared, and I will help ensure policyholders receive an exceptional claims service.”

Stewart joins the firm as Claims Counsel after a career in the legal and cyber sectors. Her experience includes roles at DAC Beachcroft and Ernst & Young.

Most recently, she served at the US law firm Morrison Foerster, helping clients with data protection and privacy, cyber incidents, negotiation, and security training.

During her career, Stewart has supported clients ranging from small UK businesses to large international organisations with various incidents, including ransomware, financial fraud, business email compromise, and insider threats.

She also has experience dealing with insurance claims and coverage issues.

Commenting on Stewart’s appointment, Tom Draper, Coalition’s UK Head of Insurance, said: “Laura’s expertise in supporting clients through an incident will prove invaluable to our policyholders and brokers.

“Her understanding of what steps can be taken pre-incident to improve outcomes will give clients even more confidence in the Active Cyber Insurance proposition. Her added leadership to our UK cyber claims team demonstrates Coalition’s continued investment in our UK expansion.”
