Consilium, a specialty re/insurance broker, has introduced a dedicated policy within its Professional & Executive Risks division to address the needs of private equity firms.
The policy is designed specifically for private equity, with wording developed alongside in-house legal counsel to address the complex exposures faced by firms and their portfolios.
It covers areas such as regulatory oversight, board representation, and investor requirements, aiming to provide clarity and practical applicability in claims situations.
The policy has no limitations on investment strategy, coverage amount, or geography, making it suitable for both smaller start-ups and large established firms. Like other Professional & Executive Risk products, it is available on a global basis. Consilium currently maintains specialist teams in London, Guernsey, and the Cayman Islands, with plans to expand to additional financial centres.
Supported by A-rated Lloyd’s capacity, the policy offers coverage across multiple areas, including Professional Liability, Crime, and Directors & Officers Liability (D&O) for managers and funds. It also extends to Private Equity transactions, portfolio company D&O, and Cyber insurance, providing a broad range of protections under a single solution.
Dominic Pilgrim, Partner Professional & Executive Risk Solutions at Consilium, added: “The market needs tailored wordings and broader coverage that responds to existing and emerging risks and regulatory challenges, so that private equity managers can act decisively without fear of personal or professional exposure.
“The world of private equity is dynamic; it certainly doesn’t fit into a “one-size-fits-all” investment management solution. This is where we shine – as a business differentiated by both appetite and service levels, delivered by an expert team that truly understands the language of our clients and their activities.”
