Continental Reinsurance, a pan-African reinsurance company providing reinsurance solutions and services across African markets, has announced an expansion of its presence in East Africa following the National Bank of Rwanda’s approval for it to establish a Representative Office in Kigali.
The office will operate as Continental Reinsurance (R) Limited and has been licensed to begin operations from 10 August 2026.
Continental Reinsurance said the move forms part of its longer-term commitment to the East African market and reflects its intention to strengthen relationships with insurers, brokers and other industry stakeholders in Rwanda.
The new Representative Office will enable it to maintain a closer connection with the local market and provide more direct support to its partners.
Continental Reinsurance described the approach as combining its wider Pan-African presence with greater local engagement. The company added that it will announce its dedicated local representative in the coming weeks.
