Specialty insurance and reinsurance company, Convex Insurance has appointed Richard P. Quinn as US Property Reinsurance Underwriter, a Bermuda-based role.

convex-logoPrior to joining Convex, he spent over four years at Axis Capital. During his tenure at the Bermuda-based company, he held the Catastrophe Modelling Analyst position for over two years before spending two years as Property Reinsurance Assistant Underwriter.

Before Axis, Quinn worked as an Actuarial Assistant for Tokio Millennium Re for a year. He started his underwriting career as a Chubb intern in 2014.

Towards the end of last year, Convex Group Limited operating subsidiaries, Convex Insurance UK Limited (CIL) and Convex Reinsurance Limited (CRL), received approval from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the California Department of Insurance to operate as a reciprocal jurisdiction reinsurer.

As a result, from January 1, 2022, Convex was able to start writing reinsurance business in the US without the need to post reinsurance collateral, via a passporting arrangement with other US states.

CIL and CRL became the first two firms in the global re/insurance market to receive reciprocal jurisdiction reinsurer status by California and the NAIC.
