Sompo International, the property & casualty (P&C) insurer and reinsurer, has named David Bigley Executive Vice President, Head of Ceded Reinsurance, where he will be responsible for the firm’s outbound reinsurance placements.
With over two decades of reinsurance underwriting experience, Bigley brings an extensive background of knowledge towards his new role.
Sompo International has confirmed that he will continue to serve as the Head of Property and Catastrophe Reinsurance until his successor is named.
Bigley has worked for the firm since 2016.
Prior to joining the organisation, he spent 12 years working at Endurance – which Sompo International acquired in 2017 – where he held a number of different roles.
He joined the firm in 2003, serving as Assistant Vice President, Underwriter for just over two years.
Then in 2005, he was named Vice President, US Property Catastrophe Reinsurance Underwriter, and would hold this role for nearly seven years.
Lastly, in 2012, he was appointed to the role of Senior Vice President, Head of US Property Catastrophe Reinsurance, and would hold this role until early 2016.
