Global insurer QBE has announced that Davide Anselmo is joining from CNA Hardy as its new general manager for Italy, based in Milan, subject to regulatory approval.
Anselmo takes over from Angela Rebecchi, who will be retiring this summer after leading QBE Italy for seven years, from September.
He brings more than two decades of insurance industry experience to the firm, including in underwriting financial lines and managing operations at a country level.
Most recently, Anselmo served as insurer CNA Hardy’s assistant vice president Field Operations for Italy. His insurance industry career began with Aviva as part of the company’s planning and evaluation department before becoming an underwriter at Dual, with a focus on Civil Liability risks, Directors and Officers, and Professional Indemnity.
Following this, Anselmo worked at UIA, an underwriting agency which he helped start up in 2005, as Financial Lines underwriter and also development manager. Next, he joined CNA Hardy, managing the whole Professional Indemnity portfolio. He later progressed to deputy branch manager and then country manager in 2015, and was later promoted to AVP Distribution for Continental Europe and, for the last two years, AVP Field Operations for Italy.
Beatriz Valenti, director of Insurance, Europe, QBE, commented: “QBE Italy has grown in recent years, which is one of Angela’s many achievements, for which I thank her warmly. And I give an equally warm welcome to Davide, whose profile will be a great asset to lead our strong Italian team as we continue to grow our presence.”
“Davide’s experience and skills are a great fit for QBE Italy right now. We have strong ambitions for our financial lines and our whole Italian business, which Davide will deliver for our brokers and customers,” added Valenti.
