Dean Galligan has joined global reinsurer Swiss Re as Head of Transactions, Life & Health Reinsurance, taking on responsibility for developing and delivering capital, risk transfer, and strategic transaction solutions for clients.
The executive brings over 25 years of industry experience, having worked across insurance, capital markets and asset management, partnering with financial institutions to solve complex strategic challenges, deploy capital efficiently and create long-term value.
He joined the company from Standard Life, where he most recently served as Chief Capital Officer. During his tenure, Galligan was a member of the Group Executive Committee with responsibility for Group capital, balance sheet strategy, funding and liquidity.
Before this, Galligan worked as a Senior Advisor to Standard Life, at DMG Advisory, as well as as Managing Director at Barclays Investment Bank.
The executive also spent 17 years at Goldman Sachs, becoming a Managing Director in 2008. During that time, he advised insurers, reinsurers and other financial institutions globally on capital, funding, risk transfer and strategic transactions across both benign and highly stressed market environments, including the global financial crisis.
