Didier Lechien named Head of Underwriting Performance & Reinsurance, Lloyd’s Europe

Lloyd’s, the world’s oldest insurance and reinsurance marketplace, has appointed Didier Lechien as Head of Underwriting Performance and Reinsurance at Lloyd’s Europe, based in Brussels.

“I’m happy to communicate that the scope of my responsibilities at Lloyd’s Europe is extended. As of now, I’ll be managing the Underwriting Performance and Reinsurance. I’m glad to work with great colleagues,” said Lechien in a LinkedIn post.

Lechien has been with Lloyd’s Europe for more than two years serving as Senior Reinsurance Oversight Manager.

He started his career in 2004, working as a IGP Technical Analyst and Account representative at John Hancock, IGP Europe. IGP is a network of insurance companies, which co-operate in providing group employee benefits insurance coverage for multinational corporations.

Between 2007 and 2018, Lechien held several roles at insurer Generali, including Non-Life Reinsurance Manager, Chief Reinsurance Officer of Generali Belgium. He was also the Senior Analyst, Insurance Liability Management of Generali based out of Italy, where he worked in ILS and the transfer of risk to capital markets investors for the Generali Group Corporate Finance.

Lechien’s other notable roles include serving as the Operations Manager, Reinsurance for Ageas Group and as the Senior Manager Financial & Actuarial Risk Advisory for Deloitte Belgium.
