DWF adds re/insurance expertise to Singapore practice with new partner

Multinational law firm DWF has strengthened its transactional practice in the Asia Pacific region with the appointment of corporate and regulatory partner Jonathan Goacher to its Singapore office.

jonathan-goacherGoacher joins DWF from Kennedys, where he recently led the firm’s regional corporate insurance practice, before which he was a consultant to DLA Piper’s Bangkok office for over a decade.

He has extensive experience working in the Southeast Asia region, and has particular expertise in the insurance regulatory sector, having advised high profile insurers and intermediaries on matters such as business establishment, M&A, capital and solvency requirements, portfolio transfers, reinsurance, and currency control.

Goacher has also advised on regulatory issues related to licensing, notification and consent requirements, foreign business restrictions, and anti-money laundering regulations, and, as a New York qualified lawyer, is also able to advise on U.S sanctions.

In his new role, Goacher will be responsible for continuing to grow DWF’s insurance sector expertise in Singapore and for capitalising on the growing demand from clients to establish operations in the region.

DWF’s Singapore practice was launched in June 2017 and currently offers commercial arbitration, construction, and infrastructure arbitration, as well as investor-State arbitration and State-to-State dispute resolution.
