Echo Re promotes Pütz to CEO as Meyer retires

Zurich-based reinsurer Echo Re has promoted Fabian Pütz to be its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), taking over from Gilles Meyer who is retiring from the company after five years of service.

fabian-putz-echo-reIncoming CEO Pütz first joined Echo Re in 2018 as the Head of Controlling, Technical Accounting & Claims, and BI/Reporting activities.

Prior to this, he worked at Echo Re’s parent DEVK since 2011. In his most recent group level role, Pütz served as Executive Assistant to Bernd Zens, Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chairman of Echo Re.

In this role, he was mostly involved in group-wide reinsurance and asset management with a focus on alternative investment strategies.

Commenting on Meyer’s departure, Zens said: “We cannot thank Gilles enough for his very valuable contribution in raising Echo Re’s underwriting profile through strategic initiatives allowing the company to thrive in the future.
