Ed Gaze steps down from Lloyd’s Lab

Ed Gaze has announced he is stepping down from his role as head of Lloyd’s Lab, the insurtech innovation incubator embedded within the London-based insurance and reinsurance marketplace.

ed-gaze-lloyds-labIn a LinkedIn post, Gaze said that he was moving but gave no further details as to his next destination.

However, he said that the Lab would be in the ‘safe hands’ of Rosie Denée and Tom Allebone-Webb, and that he would still be around for cohort 8.

Gaze also said that he would be looking for his replacement as one of his final duties.

He said: “I think I’ve had just about the best job going in the market, and the opportunities it has presented to me personally have been unique – from meeting the deputy PM of China, through to speaking on the same stage as government ministers in Guildhall.”

Gaze finished his post by saying that there would be a further announcement soon.

Gaze joined Lloyd’s in 2018 after a ten year stint as a technology and innovation focused consultant at firms including KPMG and EY.

An outsider to insurance, Gaze’s role at the Lloyd’s Lab involved meeting interested insurtechs and insurers, as well as planning and running a 10-week programme that sought to provides start-ups with access to expertise and underwriting capital where needed within the Lloyd’s market.
