Elysian, a revolutionary AI-orchestrated Third Party Administrator (TPA) for the insurance industry, has announced its official launch with $3 million in pre-seed funding led by American Family Ventures.
Co-founded by insurance industry veteran Grace Hanson and Dinyar Mistry, Elysian is set to redefine commercial liability claims handling starting January 1, 2025.
Elysian leverages its proprietary AI Claim Conductor to streamline and optimise the claims process. This technology allows Elysian to handle the “messy middle” of claims, automating tasks such as data entry, report writing, and initial assessments.
This frees up Elysian’s expert adjusters to focus on the “human” elements of claims, such as negotiation, complex decision-making, and customer interaction.
Elysian’s AI Claim Conductor is poised to transform the insurance industry by increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving outcomes for both insurers and claimants.
“Elysian emerged from my experience that insurance claims handling today is broken. Adjusters serve as data entry techs, customer service reps, lawyers, negotiators, report writers, and psychologists – all with piecemeal technological support. As a result, handling costs remain high, liability loss costs continue to rise, and adjusters are fleeing the industry,” Hanson stated.
She added: “Elysian’s north star is simple—reimagining claims handling from first principles to create a hybrid intelligence system that is foundationally machine-driven, human-empowering.”
The company has assembled a team of experienced technologists and claims leaders to ensure responsible and effective AI integration.
Key members of the Elysian team include co-founder and CEO Grace Hanson Former. She is a C-suite Claims executive with a background in US/global personal and commercial P&C startup insurance companies focusing on digital distribution, analytics, and cognitive computing.
She is the former CCO of Allied World, as well as Homesite Insurance, Hiscox, and Hippo Insurance.
Co-founder Dinyar Mistry will work alongside Hanson and serve as Elysian COO.
