Etude, a provider of high-agency talent, custom technology, and permanent capital to the insurance, commercial real estate, and industrial industries, has launched Etude Specialty Insurance Company, a Nebraska-domiciled technology-driven excess and surplus (E&S) lines carrier for commercial property and casualty (P&C).

Etude logoEtude Specialty has over USD 100 million of surplus and will write in all 50 states, the parent company confirmed.

The firm explained that Etude’s proprietary underwriting platform quotes specialty risks in hours.

The firm also appointed Daniel Rossen as President, who has over three decades of experience in specialty and E&S insurance. He led the Maxum Specialty property and E&S binding business at The Hartford.

Additionally, at ICW Group, Rossen launched the commercial multi-peril unit and set its underwriting appetite and strategy. Most recently, he was head of property at Origin Specialty Underwriters.

Etude’s proprietary underwriting platform intakes submissions without needing any formal application. Moreover, the firm uses its own capital, with surplus currently in excess of USD 100 million, as mentioned earlier.

Rossen commented, “Our capital is permanent. With no private equity fund timeline or sale to plan for, we’re built to last market cycles and brokers can build a long-term book with us.

“Our leadership team includes experienced engineers, property owners, and underwriters working to realize a modern vision for transacting insurance.”
